Oracle / Database / Applications / Lead Role
Working within a public sector environment, our customer has created a new role which will require the successful candidate to both stabilise and rationalise their legacy Oracle applications and relational databases, as well as assisting with the migration of some of these to Windows and Microsoft software.
Within this exciting new opportunity on a 2-Fixed Term Basis, the successful applicant will be responsible for the following:
*creating a roadmap for dealing with all legacy Oracle applications.
*ensure systems and process are created and clearly defined, in preparation of go-live date.
*support the Oracle applications to ensure that they are stable and consistently available.
*working with the ICT Managers to provide expertise in the case of an outage impacting any Oracle applications, as well as with regard to any interfaces between Oracle and any other solutions.
*work with stakeholders to design and deliver solutions that fit with the technology stack, that are both sustainable and represent value for money.
*ensure that both architecture and technical support documents are created and developed to enable both improvements and replacements.
*working in a fast-paced environment, having prior experience of managing legacy Oracle applications.
*you will be responsible for managing the Oracle database in an operational setting.
We anticipate that the successful candidate for this exciting new opportunity will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:
*a degree in an ICT or Computer Science subject (or equivalent).
*professional qualifications in Oracle Application Development and / or Support.
*previous proven experience of analysing the solution landscape and working with partners to deliver and design solutions.
*solid experience of Oracle and Oracle Applications.
*Knowledge of Oracle databases, systems and forms, as well as potentially web applications supported by an Oracle backend.
*a strong understanding of other technologies and how they compliment Oracle systems.
*knowledge of establishing and testing ICT continuity and recovery and oversee the upgrades to applications.
*the ability to work well under pressure, as well as being able to think outside of the box in order to get the job done.
In addition to the starting salary of up to £46,950 per annum, this opportunity would also offer a generous pension, healthcare, flexi-time and the ability to work from home part of the week, 28 days annual leave, plus an salary increasing with level of service.
