Infrastructure Engineer / 3rd Line Support / 2nd Line Support

*Our customer is based in Cardiff and currently operates a hybrid working solution, with the team member working from the office one day per week.  This might increase slightly in the future,  but will always be flexible with plenty of possibilities for Work From Home.

Your future employer is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer with a 'can-do' attitude and a passion for delivering exceptional support for the team. During an exciting period of modernisation,  there will be a greater focus on working with new technologies, rather than working with legacy systems. You will be asked to provide first, second and third line support, making sure that the business is working with the best possible systems and environment. In return, our customer will be able to provide opportunities to further develop experience across a variety of new technology, including working with several Cloud-based technologies and across DevOps-related functions.

We expect that some of the key duties for which the Infrastructure Engineer would be responsible would be:
*supporting the virtual estate,  back-end systems and services to the business.
*implement and monitor system alerts to ensure any failures receive immediate attention.
*provision of out of hours / stand by support for scheduled maintenance and system failures.
*identifying new system hardware and software needs.
*ensure that support tickets are appropriately recorded.
*aid in the implementation of bought-in hardware and software systems.
*liaise with the Software Development team to ensure the smooth roll-out of bespoke software systems.
*maximising availability (uptime) to essential services.
*schedule upgrades and security backups of hardware and software systems.
*champion new systems in the business,  ensuring all levels of users have appropriate training.
*ensuring compliance with licensing regulations.
*ensure the security of the estate is not compromised.
*monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively.
*work within strict timeframes and escalate incidents within defined timeframes.
*resolve incidents with agreed service levels.
*assist / lead on projects as required.
*assist with supporting and maintaining any cloud-based technology.
*assist with supporting and maintaining network and telephony.

We believe that to be successful in this Infrastructure Engineer opportunity,  you will have the following skills and experience:

*experience of working with Azure,  in particular knowledge of cloud resource deployment principles or usage of specific cloud technologies.
*experienced working with Windows,  VMWare,  Microsoft 365,  Active Directory and SQL databases.
*possess strong communication,  listening and interpersonal skills.
