Senior Data Engineer / Data Engineering Lead
Azure Cloud Services / Azure Data Solutions / Data Lake / Data Factory / Databricks

*For this exciting new opportunity,  there will be a great deal of flexibility with regard to remote working, with our customer's current team working across locations such as Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and London. Whilst we imagine that some office-based working will make up the working week in the future, there is great scope for flexibility and this can be discussed and negotiated during the application process.  

Working as a Senior Data Engineer, you will oversee our customer's Data Engineering team and the solutions they develop. This will involve working closely with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, developing technical architecture and being able to quickly identify problems alongside your management responsibilities. You should be able to work with your team, to lead from the front and to inspire them to reach their goals.

We feel that key duties and responsibilities of this exciting new opportunity will be as follows:
*determining project requirements and developing work schedules for the team.
*delegating tasks and achieving daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
*liaising with team members, management, and clients to ensure projects are completed to standard.
*identifying risks and forming contingency plans as soon as possible.
*analysing existing operations and scheduling retrospectives and meetings to discuss improvements.
*updating work schedules and performing troubleshooting as required.
*being transparent with the team about challenges, failures and successes.

Within this role, you will be an expert who is one of the go-to people for queries relating to Data Engineering across the business. Working closely with the team, you will consult, analyse the requirements and develop solutions to allow for real business change.

We anticipate that the Senior Data Engineer will have some of the following skills,  knowledge and experience:
*experience within a similar role would be advantageous.
*being able to lead the selection and development of Data Engineering methods, tools and techniques.
*being able to develop organisational policies, standards and guidelines for the development and secure operation of data services and products.
*solid experience of Azure Cloud Services.
*experience in any of Azure Data Solutions (Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse Analytics).
*experience in relational or non-relational database solutions.
*programming skills (Python, C#)
*understanding of data architecture patterns, including data mesh and microservices.
*Databricks / Spark experience
*practice Agile ways of working.
*ensure adherence to technical strategies and architectures.
*excellent technical, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
*strong leadership and organisational abilities.
