Working on behalf of our government client,  we are currently searching for an experienced Senior Research Officer,  where you will join them in transforming migration statistics. This is an exciting time to join the team,  as they are making rapid developments to their methodology for estimating migration.  You will play a key part in providing the best assessment yet of migration and analysing new administrative data sources to deliver a high-quality evidence base.

The customer is currently undertaking an ambitious programme of work to transform migration statistics to better meet user needs.  There is a growing demand for analysis on migration and how it is changing over time,  particularly given the rapidly changing policy context and plans for a new UK immigration system.  It is crucial that the future statistics system delivers the evidence required to support important policy decisions and inform public debate.

Within this exciting new role,  we anticipate that you will be responsible for the following tasks and activities:
*taking responsibility for delivering high quality statistics and analysis.
*managing the work of other Analysts in the team,  ensuring delivery at pace.
*using analytical software packages and advising others on appropriate techniques.
*developing new methods for using administrative data sources to measure migration.
*working proactively with customers to identify requirements and share findings,  influencing the decision-making process.
*building the capability of staff to deliver data analysis.

We believe that the successful applicant for this opportunity will have the following skills,  knowledge and experience:
*experience of managing a team and prioritising tasks in line with organisational objectives.
*strong leadership skills with the capability and experience to overcome challenges in order to deliver quality business outcomes.
*strong analytical experience,  including a track record in the practical application of analysis or research with an in depth knowledge of data sources.
*good coding skills (SAS, Python) would be desirable.
*a proven ability to manage the delivery of complex projects,  delivering quality outcomes to deadline and identifying risks.
*good communication and interpersonal skills,  with the ability to communicate complex analysis to non-specialists and contribute effectively to discussions with senior officials and external stakeholders.
*ability to deliver high impact analysis to tight deadlines, using forward planning to identify risks and issues.
