Are you searching for an exciting and challenging new opportunity on a project basis,  focused on the area of Qualitative Research?  We are currently searching for a Senior Research Officer to work on a challenging new project within the public sector.  If this might be the exciting new opportunity for you,  then please contact me for further details.

Our customer is currently undertaking a project to explore the feasibility and ethics around introducing a specific online service within a sensitive subject matter area.  They are seeking to bring on board an experienced Qualitative Researcher to work in a small team responsible for conducting research,  which will include working with both victims of crime,  as well as with victim support agencies.  The successful applicant for this role must have excellent research and collaboration skills,  to work effectively with a wide range of people.

It is anticipated that the successful applicant for this exciting new position will be responsible for the following tasks and activities:
*briefing and conducting research amongst stakeholders and members of the public.
*liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
*work closely with other team members and provide support where necessary to complete tasks.
*the role might require occasional working outside office hours,  as well as some travelling (with overnight stays) to conduct research activities.

It is anticipated that the successful applicant for this opportunity will have the following skills,  knowledge and experience:
*an interest in and dedication to research and surveys,  with the ability to apply that interest to produce practical outcomes (including understanding of ethics in research).
*experience of using social research methods (including qualitative research techniques such as in-depth interviews and focus group moderation,
including design, fieldwork, data analysis and reporting).
*experience of working with sensitive topics and vulnerable people. The topic matter includes hearing about potentially upsetting experiences,  so a degree of personal resilience is desirable.
*attention to detail and the ability to work at pace within a change environment.
*exceptional communication skills.

Academically we would anticipate that the successful applicant will have,  or expect to achieve during this academic year,  at least one of the following:
- a successful degree in a relevant social science subject,  with a substantial social research or social statistics component or
- a degree with a relevant postgraduate qualification in social research or statistics.
(eligible range of social science backgrounds includes Geography,  Psychology,  Demography,  Social policy,  Sociology,  Political Science,  Criminology and Social Statistics)
