Are you searching for a challenging new contract opportunity to start 2020,  a Software Engineering opportunity on a project basis here in  South Wales?  We are currently searching for an experienced Software Engineer to work on a large and complex technical project within the public sector.  If this might be the exciting new opportunity for you,  then please contact me for further details.

Within this exciting new project,  the successful candidate will be tasked with the support,  as well as the further enhancement and development of our customer's in-house applications,  utilising the Java and Oracle technical stack.  In particular,  this contract opportunity will be working on a project to replace the statistical processing currently carried out by SAS in the CORD application,  with new functions developed in R.
*Please note that DBS Clearance will be required by the successful candidate upon offer of the role.

We believe that the successful applicant for this exciting new opportunity will have the following skills,  knowledge and experience:
*service-oriented architectures and micro-services.  Experience of working in Kubernetes is ideal but not essential.
*event-driven architecture.
*experience must be in Python and / or Java languages.
*infrastructure as code - defining, managing & monitoring cloud infrastructure.
*Devops experience is essential.
*evidence of good communication skills,  both in person and in writing,  as well as a willingness to share their skills and experience with the in-house support team.
*the creation and management of continuous integration,  delivery and deployment pipelines,  and proposing improvements to existing pipelines.
*multiple test techniques,  informing test approaches,  ensuring consideration of non-functional requirements such as performance,  security and accessibility.
*circumventing the need for operational tasks and liaising with other teams to improve operational efficiency.
*experience with one or more of the following tools / technologies:  Eclipse IDE,  Oracle SQL Developer,  Toad,  Ant,  Maven,  Jenkins,  Sonar,  Spring,  Struts,  WebLogic,  Git,  Jira,  Confluence.
